Overview

The Knife Sharpening Guy provides professional sharpening and edge restoration across the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas, helping home cooks, professional kitchens, gardeners and tradespeople keep good tools working as they should.

I sharpen a wide range of edge tools, including:

  • Kitchen knives
  • Professional and chef's knives
  • Scissors and shears
  • Secateurs and garden tools
  • Woodworking chisels and plane irons
  • Axes and other edge hand tools
  • Clipper blades and similar removable blades

My approach is simple: if it once had an edge, I can probably bring it back.

I use a combination of traditional whetstone sharpening and professional sharpening equipment, selecting the appropriate method for the tool and the condition of the edge. Knives are primarily sharpened by hand using Shapton Kuromaku whetstones, while a Tormek system allows me to restore damaged or heavily worn edges before refining them by hand where appropriate.

As well as routine sharpening, I can often repair damaged knives and tools, including chipped edges, broken or bent tips and poorly maintained bevels, helping extend the useful life of good equipment rather than replacing it simply because it has become blunt.

Convenient local service

Based in Joys Green, Lydbrook, I offer drop-off and collection as well as a convenient collection and delivery service across the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas.

I work with both domestic and professional customers and can accommodate anything from a single kitchen knife to larger batches for commercial kitchens. Loan knives are also available for suitable bookings, helping professional customers keep working while their own knives are away for sharpening.

I also hold regular sharpening events at local businesses and venues around the Forest of Dean.

Whether you've got a favourite kitchen knife that no longer cuts as it should, garden tools ready for another season, or a working kitchen that needs its knives brought back to a professional edge, get in touch to discuss what you need.
